Bedrock Faith by Eric Charles May, follows the life of Stew Pot Reeves who returns to his far South-side neighborhood after serving 14 years in prison. Stew Pot’s transformation from a frightening delinquent into the moral judge of his neighbors is explored through his encounters and confrontations in the neighborhood. The book was selected by the Chicago Public Library for the 2021 One Book, One Chicago award.
Charles Eric May is an associate professor of Fiction Writing at Columbia College Chicago. He is a Hyde Park resident, and former reporter for the Washington Post. His fiction has appeared in the magazines Fish Stories, F and Criminal Class Review.
