The Planning of Oak Woods and Adolph Strauch

Adolph Strauch, one of the most well known lawn cemetery landscape architects in the United States at the time, would become the landscape architect for the 184 acres of what would become Oak Woods Cemetery. Prior to designing the layout of Oak Woods, Adolph Strauch served as the principal designer, and later superintendent, of Spring Grove Cemetery in Cincinnati, Ohio. Oak Woods Cemetery would be modeled after Spring Grove.
