A Note About the Tours: While Oak Woods Cemetery is most famous for it’s history related to the Confederate Mound as well as being the final resting place of numerous influential Black leaders, the tours here were designed to ensure we are not replicating information contained in other popular tours run by other organizations. The topics here are meant to help visitors expand their knowledge of the cemetery and highlight the variety of remarkable people who have been laid to rest at Oak Woods so that visitors can begin garner a broader understanding of the lives of the people buried here within their time in history. We do plan to offer more free self-guided audio tours in the future and these may converge with the topics for which the cemetery is most well known.
