Paper Conservation with Kim Nichols

The Hyde Park Historical Society held an engaging Monthly Open House on Sunday, August 25th, from 1 to 4 pm, drawing a diverse group of attendees eager to connect with local history and learn about paper preservation practices to help conserve local and family history. We were honored to have, Kim Nichols, the Director of Conservation at the Newberry Library here in Chicago, speak from 2 to 3 pm. Nichols shared valuable insights into the methods and practices of protecting and conserving aging documents, equipping members with knowledge to preserve their own historical materials. The combination of hands-on learning and engagement made the event particularly memorable for all participants.
